What is Red Giant People?

Red Giant People is a community driven site for sharing and purchasing presets. By creating an account, you will get access to 100's of free presets as well as the ability to purchase preset packs made by Red Giant People Gurus, some of the best artists in the world.


Profile

How do I start a new profile?

Signing up for a profile is easy and similar to any other community.

1. Click the"Sign In" button on

2. You will then be prompted to fill a form with all your account details.

3. An email will be sent to the email you entered to activate your account.

4. Once activated choose the "Sign In" button and proceed to your account.


What's Included with my Profile?

By signing up for Red Giant People, you will have the ability to download and upload free Presets. You'll also be able to rate/comment on presets and RGTV episodes

What happens to my information after I create an account?

Your information will remain private after you sign up. We will never sell your information or spam you with emails

Can I delete my profile?

Yes. You will need to email the site admin. We will then delete your account for you. You will need to create a new accunt to regain you privilages.

Presets

What is a preset?

A preset is a file that contains values for every parameter inside a plug-in. These presets create complex effects with a click of a button.

What do I need to prepare my Preset for upload to Red Giant People.

In order to upload your preset you will need to create a .zip file that contains your preset.

Mac OS

To find your preset on a Mac OS, Open the After Effects Preset folder on your hard drive. The file path is:

MacHD\Applications\Adobe After Effects\Presets\

If you are uploading a Looks preset, Open the Magic Bullet LooksBuilder folder on your hard drive. The directory location on Mac OS X is:

~\Library\Application Support\LooksBuilder\Looks

Once you have found your preset file, create a folder on your desktop named after your preset. Place your preset file into this folder and right click on the folder and select "Compress "*Foldername*"". Your preset is now ready for upload.

Windows OS

To find your Preset file on a windows OS, Open the After Effects Preset folder on your hard drive. The directory location on Windows is:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects\Support Files\Presets\

If you are uploading a Looks preset, Open the Magic Bullet LooksBuilder folder on your hard drive. The default directory location on Windows is:

C:\Program Files\LooksBuilder\Looks\Custom

Once you have found your preset file, create a folder on your desktop named after your preset. Place your preset file into this folder and right click on the folder and select Send To>Compressed (Zipped) File. Your preset is now ready for upload.

How do I upload a Preset?

1. You must be logged in first to upload a preset

2. Choose the "Upload Preset" Button in the top right half of the homepage.

3. You will then be prompted to "Add Preset".

4. Choose the "Upload Preset" button and select your preset file.

5. Choose the "Upload Video" and choose the associated preview video.

6. Choose all associated Host Applications and versions, and Plug-ins and versions

7. You will need to add Titles, Descriptions, and Tags to your preset so it may be sorted and found other community members.


8. Finally upload your Preset and it will be added to you profile after a processing the data.

How do I download a Preset?

To Download a preset, you will need to create an account with Red Giant People. After you have done this, click on the explore tab and find a preset labeled free. Double click on it's preview video to open the Preset Detail page.

Click on the "Download Preset" button to download your preset.

How do I create a preview video?

To create a preview video in After Effects, first open your project with your preset applied.

Drag your composition to the Render Queue. If you do not see the Render Queue, please make sure that it is shown by going to Window>Render Queue

Once your composition is in the Render Queue, double click on the yellow text next to the "Output Module". In this example, the text says "Lossless". This will open the Output Module.

In the Output Module, change the "Format" to "Quicktime Movie".

Under the "Video Output", click on the "Format Options¡­". This will bring up the compression settings window. Change the Compression type to "Photo-JPEG".

Adjust the quality setting to 85%. And then press OK.

If your video is larger than 640x360, you will need to scale it down to 640x360. Check the box next to stretch and then change the "Stretch to:" settings to 640x360.

Press Ok to close the Output Module Settings window. You are now ready to Render your preset video.
